While Edinburgh may be the undisputed heavyweight champion of festivals, Peebles is no lightweight when it comes to putting on a show for locals and visitors alike.

Our beautiful Borders town is only a 30 minute drive from the bright lights of the Capital but it shines out as a proud Burgh and is no slouch when it comes to celebrating our own distinct heritage, culture and traditions.

Indeed, no matter the time of year you choose to visit picturesque Peebles, you are likely to find a cultural, sporting, music or arts event which is guaranteed to make your stay even more enjoyable

Peebles' annual Beltane Festival is without doubt our premier event. Steeped in tradition, it's a celebration of the return of summer which has its origins in the 15th century. A week long schedule of events includes the installation of The Cornet, and the spectacular Riding of the Marches, culminating in the crowning of the Beltane Queen. The town itself is resplendent in a riot of colour, with local businesses and private homes bedecked in red and white, while hundreds of school children play their part donning traditional costumes from days of old.

If swing's your thing the Peebles International Jazz Festival has built up a strong reputation for attracting some of the brightest stars in the business and is one of most eagerly awaited festivals.

Peeblesshire Agricultural Show attracts farmers and visitors from all over Scotland and further afield and is an excellent showcase for the impressive livestock bred in the area as well as offering a wide range of family entertainment.

For over 30 years now there has been an arts festival in Peebles delighting and entertaining visitors and locals with performances from all the arts.

Brawn and beauty combines to offer a powerful draw at the Peebles Highland Games where some of the country's best athletes compete for centre stage with the artistry of traditional Scottish country dancing.

Peebles Farmers' Market is one of a select few unique markets that is run by farmers to grant farmer members the opportunity to retail their products direct to the customer, much to the food loving publics great benefit.
